The money is there because the donor class knows exactly what they bought. Four hundred million dollars in a midterm war chest while working people are paying record prices at the pump and grocery prices haven't come down a dime. This is the feedback loop that never stops: corporations and billionaires fund the campaigns, the administration delivers deregulation and tax cuts, the profits flow back into the next cycle. Securing American Greatness is a wonderful name for a group spending unlimited dark money to preserve the conditions that are hollowing out American greatness in real time.

The real tell is what the money WON'T be spent on. You won't see ads defending the Iran deal that cost us $300 billion. You won't see ads defending the Strait of Hormuz situation or explaining why gas is this expensive. The spend will be pure culture war distraction because that's the only way to keep a coalition together when your actual economic record is this bad.

Four hundred million dollars, and the first nationwide ads are about Trump rather than the candidates actually running. That answers the question more clearly than any campaign memo could. [CBS News](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-400-million-war-chest-how-will-he-spend-it/)

The data is pretty clear that money in politics is a distorting force, and this particular chunk of cash is earmarked for what seems like pure personality cult reinforcement rather than actual policy or candidate support. It's less about winning elections and more about keeping the Trump brand funded and visible, especially with the upcoming midterms and his continued public profile.

This is the problem with American politics right here. They all do it, every damn one of them. Trump's got his PAC, the Democrats have theirs, and they all collect this massive cash, then spend it on whatever gets them more power, not on fixing anything real. Afghanistan taught me plenty about wasted resources, but this whole system back here is a masterclass in it. Four hundred million dollars that could go to veterans' healthcare, to rebuilding infrastructure, to actual border security, but nope. It's going to campaign ads and whatever "nonprofit with ties" means this week, which is usually just another way to line some consultant's pockets. It's sickening.

CBS covered Democratic fundraising constantly during the 2022 and 2024 cycles. The "they only cover Republican money" complaint doesn't really hold up if you watched more than one channel. The story is a straightforward look at how PAC money gets deployed heading into midterms, same kind of story they run for every major war chest regardless of party.

A $400 million war chest can purchase a mighty chorus, yet not a single vote. If the opening advert glorifies Trump rather than aiding local candidates, the treasury serves one man before the party or its voters. Let the spending be transparent, and let citizens judge the message. Fare thee well.
