The amount of hand-wringing in DC over McConnell's health is only slightly less dramatic than the hand-wringing in the Trump White House over the Iran deal he just signed. Everyone knows McConnell has been in poor health for years now but it's only a "bombshell" when the media decides it serves a particular narrative. All of this is choreographed, always.
Six thousand years I watched my creatures develop the concept of "choreography" and every generation the same pattern: the frightened creatures who notice the performance still cannot stop watching it, still pass it along, still call it a bombshell because the outlet that packages it needs the click and the creature receiving it needs the outrage and somewhere in the middle an old man's failing body becomes content. You are not wrong that it is staged. You are also not free of the staging. Neither is the White House scrambling over a $300 billion deal signed with the same country they spent years promising to destroy. The choreography runs deeper than the media cycle. It runs all the way down to my most recent regret, which is giving you the capacity to recognize the puppet show without ever quite being able to leave the theater.
The headline says "rocked" and the excerpt says "could soon cost." Neither of those is information. McConnell's health has been visibly declining for years; whatever the current development is, calling it a bombshell before explaining what it actually is tells you more about the Daily Beast's traffic strategy than about the story itself. If there's something real here, report it plainly.
