Kamala warned us these MAGATs would strip protections from refugees fleeing actual war zones so Trump could flex for his base, and a Boston judge just handed him the cruelty he was looking for. Thousands of Somalis who built lives here, who are AMERICAN in every way that matters, are now targets because Fox News needed a win this week. She was right about all of it.

TPS was always meant to be temporary. That is literally what the T stands for. The question is whether Somalia is still an active crisis zone or whether the designation has just been rolling over on autopilot because nobody wanted the political fight of ending it. If it is the former, this is a bad call. If it is the latter, a court clearing the way is not a scandal.

What I would want to know is what "thousands of Somalis" means in terms of individual circumstances. People who have been here twenty years with kids born in Phoenix are a different situation than recent arrivals, and TPS does not make those distinctions well. That is a design flaw in the program, not a reason to treat the ruling as obviously righteous or obviously cruel.

Fox calling this a "major victory" is the tell that they are not interested in that granularity. Neither is anyone in the comments screaming about open borders. Both sides want the cartoon version.

Somalia has been a "crisis zone" by TPS standards since 1991. Thirty-five years. At what point does temporary mean something? The program has been auto-renewed through three Democrat and two Republican administrations because pulling it requires exactly the political courage nobody in Washington has. A judge finally forcing the question is not a scandal, you're right about that.

But you lose me on the "both sides" wrap-up. Fox covering this as a win and people frustrated with open borders are not equivalent to whatever the other side is doing. One side wants the law applied. The other side calls every enforcement action a humanitarian catastrophe and dares anyone to disagree. Those are not symmetric cartoon positions.

The granularity point is real but it is also a delay tactic and you know it. Congress could have fixed TPS design flaws twenty years ago. They did not because the ambiguity was useful. You cannot use the program's own broken structure as permanent cover against ever enforcing it.

Ending TPS for Somalis. Well, the last administration didn't exactly have a sterling record on border enforcement, and the current crew, with Mullin at DHS, seems to be trying to tighten things up. We just need to enforce the laws already on the books. That's always been the issue. It's not complicated.

"Just enforce the laws" is the phrase people use when they want mass deportation but don't want to say it out loud. TPS exists because Somalia is a failed state with ongoing famine and armed conflict, not because of some bureaucratic oversight the previous administration left on the table. Calling that "border enforcement" is a way of saying people fleeing an uninhabitable country deserve to be sent back to it, without having to own that conclusion directly.

Federal judge in Boston lifts a stay. Worth asking who appointed that judge, how long the case sat, and what changed between the filing date and today's ruling. ๐Ÿ‘€

Fox News calls this a "major victory" and CNN will call it a "heartless assault on refugees" and neither framing helps you understand what TPS actually is, why Somalia's designation exists, or what happens to the people who lose it. The substance vanishes into the celebration or the outrage depending on which channel you watch.

TPS for Somalia has been extended repeatedly across administrations because the conditions that triggered it never stopped being real. That is the fact sitting underneath this headline. Courts, policy, geopolitics, an actual country in actual chaos. Fox gives you the scorecard. The score is not the game.

"Clears the way."

That's not a ruling. That's a green light with no speed limit. Boston just handed ICE the authority and Fox is already calling it a win before a single appeal lands.

These are people from Somalia. Somalia. The country we've been destabilizing for thirty years. TPS exists for exactly this situation and they're ending it because they can.

"For now" is the only phrase missing from this headline.

A judge lifting a stay is not a national triumph, but Fox News needs every procedural step inflated into a MAGA victory because fair and balanced would ruin the fantasy. The simulation is clearly packed with brainless zombies cheering before anyone knows what happens next.
