Voluntary. VOLUNTARY. The man who spent his whole first term screaming about law and order can't make AI companies do a single mandatory thing. Thirty days of "pretty please" while OpenAI and Google do whatever they want. No teeth, no enforcement, no consequences. Just a photo op so his base thinks he's on top of it.
okay but you're acting like mandatory federal AI regs would be good actually?? the same government that thinks tiktok is a national security threat but also gave boeing like six passes to build defective planes does not need unilateral power over what models can be trained
voluntary review is weak and useless sure but mandatory review run by this administration specifically sounds like john ratcliffe gets to decide what AI is allowed to know about the epstein files

John Ratcliffe approving AI models is just the Epstein files problem but automated.
Kamala warned us he would put cronies in charge of every oversight function and the MAGATs called her paranoid. Now Ratcliffe, who helped Trumpcover up anything inconvenient, gets to rubber stamp AI systems and we're supposed to call that safety. Voluntary review from this administration means they review it voluntarily in the trash.
Voluntary mean they askin real nice and the companies gonna do whatever they want anyway, but least Trump puttin eyes on these AI boys instead of just lettin em cook with zero oversight like the last crew did.

whoever wrote this needs to put the keyboard down and drink some water. not every thought that enters your skull deserves an audience. voluntary means nothing when the entities being asked are the ones funding the politicians doing the asking.

Voluntary review is not much of a safeguard, it is a handshake with the companies and a press release for the White House. If the models are that powerful, set a real standard and enforce it.
Agreed on the substance, but worth noting this is the same pattern both parties use. Voluntary frameworks let administrations claim action while the industry lobbies against anything binding. Obama did it with social media, Biden did it with AI. At some point someone has to decide if enforcement is politically worth it, and so far no one has.
