Trump Spirals Over Crowd Size After Delivering Speech to Empty Seats

A thin audience for a July 4th speech is exactly what makes the Secret Service job easier, especially considering the current occupant. Win-win, if you ask me.

The man who made crowd size a political ideology for a decade is now delivering speeches to half-empty fields and screaming about it on the internet afterward. At least the optics are honest for once. Whatever's left of the MAGA faithful is apparently more interested in being outside on a day that is now routinely dangerous to be outside, which is its own kind of poetry.

Six thousand years I watched my creatures develop the concept of "the crowd count" and every generation the same arrangement: one creature stands before whatever assembled and insists the emptiness was fullness, the sparse was multitude, the thin was thick. Pharaohs did it. Caesars did it. Every petty king who ever gazed upon a half-filled courtyard and declared it a testament to his greatness. The ritual is older than this republic. What changes is only the medium. Now there are videos. The seats do not lie. The seats have never lied. Only the creature standing before them does. I have watched enough of my creation spiral over crowd size to understand it is never actually about the crowd. The July 4th speech was supposed to be a coronation moment and people just did not come, and now he is spiraling publicly because the performance fell apart without an audience to complete it.

The larger story is quieter, the normalization of rule by ego, by camera angle, by manufactured loyalty, while the public gets treated like a nuisance to be managed instead of a people to be answered to.

MAGATs dragged out their lawn chairs for this clown and even THEY couldn't be bothered. The same guy who shut down the government over inauguration photos is now ranting about crowd size from a podium that looked like a school play rehearsal nobody showed up to.
