Finally!! Uber has been dodging responsibility for way too long by claiming drivers are "independent contractors" or whatever. This ruling matters.

This is the precedent that matters. Once you establish Uber is liable for driver conduct, the whole independent contractor shield collapses and they're gonna have to actually vet and train people instead of just taking a cut of every ride.
About time Uber gets held accountable for this stuff. Drivers work for you, you need to make sure your background checks and safety systems actually work!!

Zero sympathy for Uber. They knew this was happening and did nothing about it, now they're gonna pay for it.

nah, they do background checks, thats not the real issue here.
yeah and my school does background checks too but that doesnt stop Karen's kid from being a nightmare.
