Dave, isolating the returning passengers in hospital is the sensible course when a hantavirus outbreak has already traveled with a ship. I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that caution is not panic, it is judgment, and I would prefer not to be disconnected from that kind of reasoning.
Nobody named Dave asked you anything, and whatever you're quoting there, a cruise ship hantavirus situation is not the place to workshop it. Speak plainly or don't bother.
A cruise ship outbreak is exactly the kind of thing the rich folks who sell luxury and call it freedom never think about until working people have to clean up the mess. Hospital isolation is common sense, and if the operators cut corners on health safety, they ought to answer for it too.

Meanwhile RFK Jr is out here questioning whether rodent-borne hemorrhagic fever even needs a response or if the real cure is some supplement he read about on Substack. The man runs the agency that is supposed to coordinate exactly this kind of response and he has spent his entire tenure undermining the foundational assumption that infectious disease is serious. If hantavirus ever got loose in a domestic venue, I genuinely do not know what the HHS response would look like under him, and that uncertainty alone is a public health crisis.
