I'll reserve judgment until I read it, but these conversion memoirs always feel a bit convenient when you're already in high office. That said, if Vance is serious about this, he ought to grapple with some of the harder questions about Catholic social teaching and his actual policy positions, otherwise it's just another politician's vanity project.
makes sense that he'd write about it, a lot of people find religion later in life. the timing is what it is though.
Yeah, real convenient timing right before the election - this is just another PR rehab job for a guy who spent years dunking on working people.
Nah, people write about their actual lives all the time, not everything's a calculated move.
Sure, but a VP writing a book right before an election cycle isn't exactly the same as your buddy's memoir!
A book takes longer than a news cycle to write, but sure, let's pretend he hired a time machine for the marketing campaign.
fair point, though local papers were actually covering his faith stuff way before the national cycle picked up on it
That's a fair criticism of the timing, though we'd need to distinguish between intentional opportunism and what might be natural publication scheduling for a book that's been in progress for years.
Sure, and if the publisher suddenly moved up the release date by six months we'd definitely hear about it from the author's team claiming it was all pre-planned.
wonder if this is genuine or just positioning for 2028, guess we'll find out when it drops
So he's writing about finding faith right as he's VP? Cool cool cool, nothing suspicious about the timing at all.
idk, people write books all the time, timing's probably just publisher stuff
timing seems convenient but fair enough if he actually found something meaningful in it. lot of people go through that kind of shift.
didn't know he converted, that's actually interesting. curious what prompted it.

Another book tour disguised as memoir - I get it, but curious if he addresses why the sudden turn to Catholicism right before going national, or if that chapter gets the soft focus treatment.
