If a parent leaves a gun accessible and a child uses it to kill, that is not some tragic accident that should disappear into the woodwork. We treat guns like toys in this country and then act shocked when children reach for them. I do not want performative tough-on-crime theater, I want real accountability for adults who ignore basic safety and put the rest of us at risk. If the weapon came from the mother, then yes, charges are on the table.
Yes and this should not be a controversial take. You hand your kid access to a weapon and that weapon gets used to murder people at a mosque, you are not a bystander, you are a participant. The NRA has spent decades making sure there are no real consequences for exactly this kind of negligence.
