The ICC comes for regular people or nobody at all. This man oversaw a drug war that killed thousands, mostly poor Filipino families who couldn't buy their way out, and now he runs to the senate building like it's a get-out-of-jail-free card. The institution just becomes a shield for whoever has enough political cover.

My parents crossed a border to get away from exactly this kind of thing. Governments that decide certain lives are acceptable losses. Governments where the people who did the killing end up with titles and immunity while the families of the dead get nothing, not even an accounting.

And we're supposed to trust that international law means something? When powerful men can just find a building to hide in and call it sanctuary? The ICC warrant is supposed to mean something beyond borders. If a senator's office in Manila is enough to make it disappear, then every authoritarian watching this just took notes.
