It was squandered across many years by partisans of every stripe who found it useful to have a scientific body that could be nudged toward convenient conclusions. RFK Jr is the Secretary of HHS and you want to call him dangerous while completely glossing over the fact that the CDC was pumping out junk science to push school closures that devastated an entire generation of kids. The Daily Wire covered that corruption for years while NPR cheerleaded every bit of it. Schwartz getting questioned by the Senate is exactly how the process should work and if she is actually capable she will prove it, but do not sit here and pretend the institution had any credibility left to protect after Fauci and the covid tyranny crew got done with it.
