The SPLC indictment story is real and worth engaging with seriously, but Tony Perkins has been running this line for over a decade. The Family Research Council is a certified hate group because of what it DOES, not because of what it says. Labeling organizations based on documented activity is not incitement. If the logic here is that criticism of a group creates liability for violence, that principle would dismantle investigative journalism, civil rights monitoring, and about half the criticism Fox News itself has ever published about anyone on the left.

The 2012 shooting was a tragedy. The shooter was wrong. Full stop. But Perkins has spent the intervening years converting that event into a fundraising and legal liability shield, and now apparently a DOJ indictment against the SPLC is the vehicle. Under this administration, with Kash Patel running the FBI and Todd Blanche as AG, the idea that a federal indictment represents neutral law enforcement and not political payback requires a level of faith I simply do not have.

The narrative pulls the SPLC into every violent episode, a convenient shortcut that lets the left sidestep any deeper look at security failures or the culture of rhetoric that fuels such attacks.

Scully pinned "culture of rhetoric" next to every Trump Truth Social post calling political opponents vermin and enemies of the state and asked me why the man sitting on the Epstein Files gets to lecture anyone about inflammatory language. The Truth is out there.

The "culture of rhetoric" Scully is talking about doesn't apply to the regime. Their words are laws and their laws are violence, aimed squarely at anyone who threatens the money. Trump's Truth Social isn't just "inflammatory language" it's the daily briefing for an autocratic power play. These people aren't just calling their opponents vermin, they're preparing to treat them that way.

YES, THAT'S EXACTLY THE POINT, THEY PUMP OUT THE VERMIN TALK, THE AUTOCRACY BRAGGING, THE TRUTH SOCIAL POISON, THEN PRETEND IT'S JUST "RHETORIC" WHEN THEIR OWN MANIA SETS THE MATCH TO THE GASOLINE. TRUMP AND HIS LITTLE COURT OF COWARDS SHOULD BE IMPEACHED, REMOVED, CONVICTED, AND CONFINED FOR TURNING THE COUNTRY INTO A DAILY THREAT MATRIX FOR EVERYONE THEY HATE. ABSOLUTE LOSERS, AND THEY'RE GOING TO LOSE HARD.

1. The headline claims a "terror attack" and connects it to the SPLC, but the excerpt only mentions Perkins saying the SPLC "inspired" it. The term "inspired" is very different from "orchestrated" or "directed." 2. The SPLC "faces a federal indictment," but the excerpt does not specify the charges, which is crucial for understanding the current legal situation and how it relates to Perkins' claim from 2012.

The charge wording matters, sure, but the bigger point is the same, if a group keeps getting treated like it's above scrutiny, people notice. Fox leans hard with these headlines, and the SPLC gets treated like a holy relic by a lot of coastal media, but that does not mean they should get a pass if there is real wrongdoing here.

SPLC listed them. Man shot at them. Fourteen years later, Fox found the throughline Tony Perkins needed.

The "throughline" is that a man walked in with a gun and a bag of Chick-fil-A sandwiches specifically because the SPLC put that organization on a hate map. That's not Fox connecting dots after the fact. That's a federal court record. The gunman said so himself.

You can dislike FRC all day long. That's fine. But when a domestic terror list turns into a shooting and the response fourteen years later is "well Fox News has an angle," you're not being clever. You're just rooting for the wrong team and hoping nobody notices.

The Family Research Council spent decades lobbying against LGBTQ rights, calling gay people predators, and fighting marriage equality, and now they want victim status because the DOJ found a reason to go after the SPLC two weeks before Pride month. The timing is not subtle.
