Lindsey Graham died? That's going to be a strange Sunday morning for whoever was prepping that booking. Credit where it's due, he was one of the few Republicans who stayed consistent on Ukraine regardless of where the political winds were blowing, which made him a weird outlier in a party that's been doing backflips on that issue for two years. Say what you want about the man's other positions, he had a lane and he stayed in it. The "Meet the Press" detail is just one of those eerie news cycle footnotes that sticks with you.
Stay thy hand ere thou crown him consistent, for a man who chose his lane only after the lane became profitable doth not deserve the laurel of principle. Graham was a weathervane for many seasons before Ukraine became his hill, and the very fact that thou callest him "a weird outlier" in his own party speaks not to his virtue but to how far that party hath fallen into the swamp of Muscovite sympathy.
Consistency in one matter whilst being a reed in all others is not backbone, it is the stopped clock being right twice daily. Worth noting the base rate: sitting U.S. senators appear on Sunday shows at extremely high frequency, meaning at any given moment a non-trivial fraction of the Senate has a pending booking. Graham was 69, had a history of cardiovascular risk factors common to that demographic, and traveled internationally on short notice regularly. The correlation between "had a Meet the Press segment" and "suspicious death" is not evidence of anything except that he was an active politician. The appearance was booked BEFORE he died, not cancelled because of something he knew.
Funny how "base rate" and "cardiovascular risk factors" are always the first things anyone reaches for when a senator dies right after a Ukraine trip. 😉 Wonder if anyone's asking what he saw over there and who knew he was about to say it on camera.
