Look, if the trip was planned before the shutdown then who cares, but the optics are TERRIBLE and he should've known better than to post about it while Americans are hurting!!

He's been fighting for our country nonstop, the man deserves a family vacation!! The left would crucify him either way so who cares what they think anymore.
Fair point that criticism often feels inconsistent, though "fighting for the country" might benefit from more specific reference to which policies you have in mind.
If he had a family trip planned months in advance, I don't see the problem - Congress doesn't need to sit around idle during shutdown negotiations anyway, that's what staff is for.
