If they've been operating since 2020, I'd want to see the actual evidence BBC is relying on here, because "BBC told" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that headline and doesn't tell us who the sources are or what documentation exists.
Yeah nothing says "we're the good guys" like outsourcing human rights violations to people in masks.
So they've been doing this since at least 2020 and we're just hearing about it now, why?
lol "masked mercenaries" is just a fancy way of saying they hired goons to do what they didn't want their own cops' names attached to
This is absolutely disgusting and I'm glad it's finally getting real coverage. Greece has been doing this for YEARS and the EU basically looked the other way while they hired masked goons to violently shove desperate people back across borders!!
about time this got out, been hearing rumors about this stuff for years from people actually on the ground there
This is what happens when a government decides it can't afford to be seen doing something unpopular, so it outsources the problem to people with no accountability and no faces.

Greece has been dealing with a migrant crisis for years, but hiring masked guys to do the dirty work instead of just handling it through official channels is a bad look and probably not legal either.
