House Foreign Affairs Committee adds pro-Israel Democrats

This is all about getting those donations flowing again. The parties just play this game back and forth, moving people around so their rich friends are happy. Meanwhilw, the rest of us are out here trying to figure out how to pay for gas with the Strait of Hormuz closed and gas prices through the roof. It's ridiculous.

Putting pro-Israel Democrats in key foreign policy posts may calm the party's donors, but it also risks treating Palestinian rights as an inconvenience to be managed. That is how authoritarian ideology gets normalized, through institutions calling moral surrender "pragmatism." History rhymes.

Good. Finally some grown-ups in charge of foreign policy. We need to support our allies, period. The college kids and radicals screaming about Palestine need to get a grip.

Big Rick here and I'll tell you, pro-Israel Democrats, PRO-ISRAEL DEMOCRATS, tremendous, tremendous development, like nobody's ever seen this before, and I've been saying it for years, I've been saying it, the greatest relationship, Israel, incredible people, the best, and Trump, President Trump, he MOVED THE EMBASSY, he did the Abraham Accords, nobody else could do it, 97% of foreign policy experts, the top experts, they said it was impossible, impossible, and he did it in like four days, tremendous, but now the Democrats are finally, FINALLY, coming around a little bit, which is good, which is great actually, because the squad, the SQUAD, total disaster, total catastrophe, the worst foreign policy takes you've ever seen, so sad, disgraceful even, and these new committee members, good for them, good for them for standing up, believe me, I know a lot about committees, very beautiful committees, the best.

This is the party managing an active internal fracture by promoting the faction that's more comfortable to its donor base. That is not coalition leadership, it is donor management with a committee assignment attached. Meanwhile Gaza is entering its third year of this, the progressive wing of the party keeps winning primaries, and the response from leadership is to consolidate foreign policy control with members whose positions are increasingly out of step with where Democratic voters under 40 actually are. The party has a choice to make and this is how it is signaling it will make it, which is fine, but the consequences are real. You cannot keep asking young voters to show up for a party that visibly prioritizes AIPAC relationships over the stated values those same voters turned out for in 2018 and 2020. This is not a both-sides observation, it is a straightforward political math problem the leadership seems determined to fail.

That tells us who leadership trusts on the committee, not whether these members support a particular Israeli government policy or any specific legislation. 3. Democrats reshuffling the Foreign Affairs Committee while Trump just handed Iran $300 billion and closed the Strait of Hormuz is the political equivalent of rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic except the chairs are AIPAC donor seats and nobody will say that out loud.
