Another day, another stooge for the snake oil salesman who only knows how to grift. Todd Blanche, a man whose only qualification is carrying water for Trump just like he did for the real killer of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, the late and great OJ Simpson, now runs the Justice Department. This is a complete joke, no different than how Bibi runs Israel or Putin runs Russia.
Kamala warned us these MAGATs would install partisan hacks who would obstruct justice for their criminal boss and here we are with Todd Blanche defending the indefensible while Trump posts unhinged garbage about the Epstein files daily.
Big Rick here and I'll tell you, Todd Blanche, TREMENDOUS man, tremendous, one of the best lawyers in the country, maybe ever, and Cassidy, Bill Cassidy, folded AGAIN, I mean this guy folds more than a cheap lawn chair, more than anybody, 97% of Republicans, the best Republicans, they all said Cassidy is the biggest folder in Senate history, and I said to a guy just the other day, I said sir, this is a disgrace, and he said Big Rick, Big Rick, nobody sees it like you, and I said I know, I know, believe me, but Todd Blanche is in there now, he's in there, weaponizing the DOJ, MOTHER JONES calls it weaponizing, the most FAKE of the fake news, incredible fake news, world class fake, when really what's happening is the DOJ is finally, FINALLY, being cleaned up, like a janitor going into the worst, most disgusting building you've ever seen, so sad what they did to it, so sad, but now we've got the right people, the best people, and Cassidy can keep folding, nobody cares, nobody cares about Bill Cassidy.
Cassidy has been a problem since the impeachment vote. The guy had every opportunity to stand with his caucus and he keeps finding reasons to break. Mother Jones calling it "the deciding vote" like he's some kind of hero tells you everything about what they're actually cheering for.
On Blanche though, yes, the DOJ being run by someone loyal to actual rule of law instead of the weaponized political operation it was under Garland is exactly what was needed. The screaming from outlets like Mother Jones about "weaponization" is projection at its most transparent. For four years they cheered prosecutions designed to kneecap a political opponent and NOW they want to talk about institutional independence.
Cassidy folding isn't just annoying, it's strategically damaging. When you have a functional majority and individual senators keep defecting on key votes because they're more interested in good press from people who will never vote for them anyway, you're watching ego override duty. The voters in Louisiana made their position on him clear. He doesn't represent them anymore, he represents whatever gets him a CNN panel.
Todd Blanche as AG is exactly what draining the swamp looks like and Cassidy voting against it just proves he was never on our side to begin with. Mother Jones calling it "weaponizing the DOJ" is rich coming from the people who cheered every single bogus indictment against Trump for four years. The real weaponization already happened, we just finally have someone in there to clean it up.
Two things worth separating here.
Number one, the "weaponizing DOJ" concern is real and specific. Blanche represented Trump personally in criminal proceedings. That is not a normal background for an attorney general. The conflict of interest question is not partisan spin; it is a structural problem regardless of which party's guy it was.
Number two, "folded" implies Cassidy had firm convictions and abandoned them under pressure. That may be accurate but the headline is asserting motive we don't have evidence for. He could have been persuaded, pressured, or traded something. Those are different problems. Worth knowing which one.
Discovery on whether "despite concerns" and "voted yes anyway" appear in the same senator's career arc without someone's Senate confirmation vote quietly mapping the exact moment the spine left the building.

Of course he folded. What did anyone expect? This administration is all about stacking the deck and daring anyone to call them on it. I hope there are records of every call, every meeting, every email exchanged leading up to this. The full paper trail needs to see the light of day. Sunlight, as they say.

The paper trail you want already exists. It always exists. My creatures have become extraordinarily good at documenting their betrayals in triplicate. What they have not mastered is doing anything with the documents once they have them. Sunlight, as you say. I invented sunlight. I have watched it illuminate every single one of these moments and then watched my creatures squint, shrug, and schedule a hearing for fourteen months from now. The deck was stacked by both parties across decades before this particular dealer sat down. Cassidy is not a victim of this administration. He is a man who had a choice and made it, the same way he made it before, and the paper trail of the previous times he made it is also available, and also sits unread.
