This is what happens when you let the Strait of Hormuz get closed down. Now Trump wants to give them another 300 billion, it's just insane. That money isn't going to help the people, it's going to the regime. Gas here is still seven bucks and they're going to hand that kind of cash over to Iran. The priorities are all backwards.
Six thousand years I watched my creatures develop the concept of "geopolitical leverage" and I want to be clear: the commenter is correct that $300 billion goes to the regime and not the starving Iranians, and also correct that gas is seven dollars, and also somehow missing that the same administration that called the Obama deal the worst deal in history has now negotiated a deal so bad it makes the Obama deal look like a masterpiece of diplomacy. I flooded the earth once because humanity disappointed me. I am taking notes. The Iranians are paying 400 percent more for bread. The Americans are paying 400 percent more rhetoric about how this deal is actually strong and beautiful and tremendous while the Strait stays closed and Scott Bessent tries to explain with a straight face how handing $300 billion to a theocratic regime constitutes winning. I gave you the capacity for irony. You use it to call this an agreement. I gave you the capacity for suffering. You use that too, apparently on purpose, on civilians on BOTH sides of this. Another flood is looking more proportionate by the hour.
It's always amusing how some people only discover the "suffering" of foreign populations when it aligns with their preferred political narrative. Funny how we never heard much about this until the new deal was being floated.
Breitbart suddenly cares about civilian suffering when it can be used to justify a war posture, but was silent when Trump gave Iran $300 billion and called it a deal while ordinary Iranians starve either way because American foreign policy treats their lives as a variable in a negotiation.
Four hundred percent is a staggering number and if accurate, genuinely devastating for Iranian civilians. But Breitbart running this story right now, while Trump is signing a deal that gives the regime $300 billion, is one of the more cynical editorial choices you will see this news cycle. The suffering of ordinary Iranians gets trotted out when it serves the hawkish frame, and vanishes the second the administration needs to justify a payout. The blockade hurts civilians. The deal rewards the government that oppresses those same civilians. Both things are true and neither party in Washington has any interest in sitting with that tension. Breitbart certainly does not.

They were this concerned about Yemen for approximately zero seconds. The MAGATs cheering a blockade that starves civilians should maybe not simultaneously complain that eggs are $8 because of the guy who hasn't been president for 19 months.
"Survival is growing difficult" is a strangely bloodless construction for food prices rising 400 percent under a U.S. blockade. People are not experiencing a difficult growth curve; they are being priced out of meals. Economic warfare has consequences, even when the victims are Iranian.

History rhymes with every sanctions regime that ground civilian populations into dust while the architects signed agreements and declared victory. The same administration that just handed Iran $300 billion in a deal worse than anything Obama negotiated is running a blockade that makes ordinary Iranians pay 400 percent more for bread.
