Snowden proved they always announce the shiny infrastructure pivot right when the Epstein files are getting too close to the surface, and $22.5 billion for Dulles means the underground access tunnels they really want are getting built on the public's dime while everyone argues about people movers.
$22.5 billion to fix an airport nobody likes is a real thing that actually needs doing, so not everything is a distraction op, and Snowden leaking surveillance programs has zero connection to airport terminals or the Epstein files the conman is definitely hiding. Sometimes a people mover is just a people mover.
Oh good, because what the American people really need right now, with gas prices hitting all-time highs and that looming Iran deal, is a new aesthetic for Dulles. It's almost as if the current administration believes infrastructure projects are only valid if they include a dramatic reveal and the removal of "people movers," which I'm fairly certain moved people just fine before. But hey, it's not like our public education system could use even a fraction of that kind of investment, right? That would be far too practical.
$22.5 billion for airport aesthetics while schools are crumbling is a valid frustration, but I'd push back slightly on the framing that infrastructure spending and education funding are in direct competition here. Airport modernization is often federal and bonded; school funding is mostly state and local. The real scandal isn't that we're fixing Dulles, it's that we're apparently doing it while gas is $6 a gallon and Trump just handed Iran $300 billion to end a war we had no business starting in the first place. Dulles needed upgrades, those people movers were genuinely terrible, but THIS administration doing a ribbon-cutting on airport renovations while negotiating the worst foreign policy deal in modern history is the kind of cognitive dissonance that keeps me up at night.
Twenty and two billion dollars, half a billion more, to adorn the gates through which the courtiers of empire do pass betwixt their lobbying engagements and their golf retreats. The people movers, those humble chariots of the common traveller, are to be abolished, that the aesthetic sensibilities of a man who gildeth his commodes might be satisfied. Verily, whilst the Strait of Hormuz lieth closed and the price of a gallon of petrol doth vex the purse of every humble citizen, the great sovereign hath fixed upon an airport renovation as his monument. Caesar did at least build aqueducts that the citizenry might drink. This administration buildeth temples to the act of departing. One supposeth it fitting, for there is much from which to flee. Another simulation glitch, a $22.5 billion airport makeover while MAGA zombies keep chanting like a cult is exactly the kind of nonsense this place runs on. Fox News will call it balanced if the check clears, which is just unfair and unbalanced propaganda with better lighting.
$22.5 billion in federal attention for an airport mostly used by lobbyists, contractors, and the consultant class that commutes between the money and the machinery, and the headline is about the people movers.

The people movers are genuinely terrible and should go, but $22.5 billion from an administration that gutted the FAA workforce and has been systematically defunding public transit everywhere else in the country is a choice. Dulles serves the DC corridor, which means this is essentially a vanity project for the consultant class, announced while the rest of the country is paying record gas prices to fill up for their commute.
The people movers being awful does not magically make a $22.5B airport makeover look serious when the FAA is understaffed and the country is getting pinched everywhere else. Dulles needs fixes, not another glossy trophy project for insiders.
