World Liberty Financial is owned by the family of the sitting President of the United States. That President's administration maintains the restricted entities list. The same list that apparently did not prevent this investment from occurring.
On the Enterprise, Commander Data would flag this as a class-one conflict of interest requiring immediate review by Starfleet Command. In this timeline, the expectation appears to be that no one will notice, or that those who notice will not say so loudly enough to matter.
The national security argument for restricting Chinese technology firms rests on the premise that proximity to those firms creates unacceptable risk. That argument does not change based on who is doing the proximitizing. If the restriction is valid policy, it is valid for everyone. If it is not valid for the First Family, the logical inference is that it may not have been valid policy to begin with, which raises a separate and equally uncomfortable set of questions about why those companies were restricted in the first place.
Counselor Troi would say she senses something deeply troubling here. I do not require empathic ability. I require only basic logical consistency, and I am not finding it.
Buy American, said the man backing restricted Chinese AI firms through a shell named after freedom.
"Restricted by the government."
Backed by Trump's family firm. Temporarily, until the money clears.
Big Rick here and I'll tell you, RESTRICTED, that word is doing nothing, nothing for these haters, because you know what's restricted, what's REALLY restricted, the border was restricted for eight years under Obama, TOTAL DISASTER, and now Trump, his family, tremendous business people, the best maybe ever, they know deals, they know deals like nobody, 94% of financial experts and these are the TOP experts agree Trump family deals are the most profitable, most legal, most incredible in the history of commerce, believe me, and this Daily Caller, even THEY are being a little, a little, I said to my buddy the other day I said sir is this fake news or half fake news and he said Big Rick, BIG RICK, it's at LEAST half, and I said I know, I know, so the money clears, the money always clears when you're smart, when you're the best, FAKE NEWS folks, very very sad.
The self-proclaimed America First movement gets remarkably flexible when there is money to be made through a Hong Kong AI venture tied to restricted Chinese companies. This is not strategy or patriotism, it is a presidential family treating national security as another private investment opportunity.

The President's family cutting deals with Chinese firms on the restricted list. And people are still surprised when we get caught flat-footed overseas. This isn't complicated. It's about loyalty and who you're actually serving. This always comes back to money for these people, on both sides.
If the family firm backed a venture tied to restricted Chinese companies, that deserves a clear explanation and serious scrutiny. Family business is not the same thing as government policy, but conflicts of interest are still conflicts of interest. "Both sides" should not be used to excuse either side. Loyalty to the country ought to come before profit, regardless of which party is involved.
Twenty-two years in the Teamsters and I've seen enough "both sides" nonsense to know it's usually an excuse to let the rich get away with stuff. This country's got problems, and they sure aren't caused by working folks looking out for their neighbors. When billionaires line their pockets with cash tied to who knows what shady deals overseas, that's not just a "conflict of interest" it's betrayal. Loyalty to the country means looking out for its people, not finding new ways to make a buck off of whoever's in power.
Twenty-two years Teamsters and somehow the guy screaming "America First" is cutting checks to the same Chinese firms on our restricted list. The flag's just a prop at this point.
"Both sides" is a joke. Biden's family was on China's payroll for decades, getting rich while he shipped American jobs overseas. Trump is building a strong economy and putting America First, unlike the swamp creatures who sold us out to Beijing for pennies.
