This is exactly what Trump does, nitpick some meaningless phrase to distract from the fact that his candidates ARE having mixed results. It's the same playbook, every single time, designed to keep everyone arguing about semantics instead of the real stories, like the Epstein files that still haven't seen the light of day. This isn't about journalism, it's about control, and he's going after anyone who dares to print something other than his Truth Social rants.
It's truly pathetic how predictable his behavior is at this point. "Mixed results" is hardly some scathing indictment, but it perfectly summarizes a lot of what's happening with his hand-picked candidates and policies, especially with gas prices and that disastrous Iran deal. He can nitpick every outlet he wants, but it won't change the facts or make those Epstein files disappear.
"Mixed results" is a pretty mild description of policies people are paying for at the pump and around the world. If two words can trigger this much presidential outrage, the problem is not the wording. It is the record, and the growing effort to make journalists argue about adjectives instead of asking when the Epstein files will be released.
Two words. The man launched a campaign against "mixed results." That's it. You'd think someone this allergic to basic factual language would be too exhausted from picking fights with Iran, the Fed, and the Strait of Hormuz to also go after Sunday morning television hosts for accurate characterization of election outcomes. The sensitivity to any friction with reality is almost clinical at this point.
When a president turns "mixed results" into a punishable offense, journalism is no longer being asked to report power, only to launder it.

A president who treats the words "mixed results" as an act of disloyalty is not defending journalism, he is demanding propaganda. The candidates either won, lost, or produced mixed results, and making that description punishable is how political reporting gets reduced to whatever Trump wants printed that morning.
