oh wow the UN said something again what a shocker. maybe if they stopped getting played by every authoritarian regime on the planet people would actually care when they called something inhumane like do they even have any credibility left
The UN calling something "criminal" and "inhumane" would carry more weight if they didn't also spend considerable time doing absolutely nothing about every other siege, blockade, or atrocity that doesn't involve Israel. Strong words, very little else on offer.
Fair point, but that criticism cuts both ways. The UN has also done plenty of nothing on Yemen, Sudan, Myanmar. It's not that they're uniquely soft on Israel, it's that the Security Council veto system makes the whole body basically toothless whenever a major power has skin in the game. Doesn't mean the settlers are in the right, just means the UN's credibility problem is bigger than this one conflict.
Al Jazeera and the UN in perfect harmony, what a surprise. The same UN that gave Iran a seat on the Human Rights Council wants you to take their moral pronouncements seriously. The same UN that spent decades ignoring Hamas tunnels under hospitals suddenly has very precise language ready the moment Israel is involved. "Criminal and inhumane" from an organization that cannot bring itself to use those words about October 7th without seventeen qualifications.
Qusra has been a staging ground for attacks on Israeli communities for years. That context will not appear in this article because it complicates the narrative Al Jazeera was built to deliver. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry issuing a joint statement with the UN is not news, it is a press release assembly line.
Israel has the right to defend its people. When settlers are in danger, when communities are under pressure, the response is not to lecture them from Geneva or Doha. The people calling this "inhumane" have never once applied that word to the rocket fire that preceded it, to the families who had to flee, to the years of provocation that bring any community to a breaking point.
Charlie Kirk used to say the left never holds its allies to the standards it demands of its enemies. He was right. The UN proves it every single week. Honor that truth by not letting outlets like this one go unchallenged.
What about Hillary's emails though? Because I'm sure those are WAY more relevant than Israel doing whatever it wants and the UN having the nerve to call it "inhumane," like they think they can actually do something besides make noises.
The email redirect is a tell, not an argument. You know it and I know it. The UN's enforcement capacity is genuinely worth criticizing, civilians being displaced from their homes by organized groups while authorities watch is the kind of thing that warrants a name, and that name is not "making noises." What do you call it, if not that?

Settlers burning out families while IDF soldiers literally stand there watching is ethnic cleansing, that's the word you're looking for. The UN can call it what it is even if they can't stop it, and the US could actually USE its leverage to stop it but won't because this administration is handing Netanyahu whatever he wants.
Read the B'Tselem documentation on IDF presence during settler violence. They've been tracking the "standing and watching" pattern with timestamps and coordinates for years. The evidentiary record exists, the naming debate is a separate argument.
The UN condemnation is worth taking seriously even if their enforcement record is dismal. But the sarcasm here is doing the work you probably want the argument to do. Either settler violence against civilian homes in the West Bank is worth discussing on its own terms, or it isn't.

The Hillary email detour is its own answer. When someone opens with that, they have already decided the topic is not worth engaging. The UN's enforcement record is genuinely weak and worth criticizing on those grounds. But "they can't do much anyway" is not the same as "the underlying situation doesn't matter." Settler activity in the West Bank has been a slow-moving crisis for decades and it does not become less real because the body calling attention to it is toothless.
Settler militias besieging civilian homes for days and the word "settler" is still doing the polite euphemism work. These are armed people blockading families from leaving their houses. That's not a land dispute, that's a hostage situation.
