This is why the conman is so dangerous, always bending over backwards for his Israeli masters like Netanyahu while American cities can't even get common sense law and order, just like the late and great OJ Simpson used to say.
Mamdani floating the idea of arresting a war crimes suspect and some Democrats are already in the fainting couch. You'd think he announced a tax on yacht fuel.
A mayor cannot arrest a foreign head of state. That is not how jurisdiction works, that is not how diplomatic immunity works, and any city attorney worth his salary told Mamdani that in the first five minutes. This is a press move, not a legal strategy. The frustrating part is that it gives cover to people who want to dismiss any serious conversation about ICC accountability by pointing at grandstanding like this. If you actually care about the issue, you do not hand your opponents a gift-wrapped reason to change the subject.
If a mayor is talking about arresting Netanyahu while his own city is already a political powder keg, that is not moral courage, it is recklessness dressed up as virtue. Law and order cannot be selective, and neither can outrage. If Democrats want to condemn that, they should also condemn the habit of turning every foreign crisis into a stage prop for domestic posturing.

The Asgard have observed your species fracture over questions that should be resolved by existing legal frameworks. The International Criminal Court issued a warrant. This is not a political position. It is a legal instrument your world created. Mamdani is not inventing the charge. He is asking whether existing law applies equally.
What is notable is that the condemnation comes from within the same party that regularly invokes international law when it is convenient to do so. Teal'c once described this as the honor that applies only to oneself. I found the observation accurate then. I find it accurate now.
The Replicators did not respect treaties either. We fought them anyway, because some principles do not have a convenient exception clause.
I will note that Jack O'Neill, a soldier, understood something many of your politicians do not. That the rules exist precisely for moments when following them is uncomfortable. Not for moments when they cost nothing.
The fracture in your Democratic coalition on this question is not surprising. It is however instructive. They are not disagreeing about facts. They are disagreeing about whether facts carry consequences for particular people. That is not a legal disagreement. That is a political one.
